This year, Vinitaly comes to Miami and Palm Beach almost a month earlier than last year's March event.
The traveling Italian wine show makes its way around the world with its main post situated in Verona, Italy, city of the event company's (International Event & Exhibition Management) mother office.
The show aims to connect lesser-known brands of well-loved Italian wine with the rest of the world. The exhibition is primarily targeted toward trade members, such as wine buyers and press, though a couple hours of the show are open to the public. This year the number of wineries showcasing has almost doubled, with 100 confirmed exhibitors. Guided tastings include a focus on Le Marche region of Italy, a wine-producing area which is beginning to grow in popularity in the U.S.
If you love Italian wine, this is a great chance to meet with Italian Winemakers, who will answer any question you might have about their wines. It's an excellent learning experience and a way to get to know the many incredible varietals and regions that make up this gastronomic Mediterranean peninsula.
The Miami tasting takes place Monday, February 8th at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach. Doors are open to pre-registered trade and press from 2-7pm, and to the public from 5-7pm ($20 entrance fee). Light hors d'oeuvres will be served. A private VIP tasting is set for the 9th at the W Hotel. The Palm Beach tasting at The Ritz Carlton takes place on February 10th from 2-6 for pre-registered trade and 4-6 for the public ($20 entrance fee). Light hors d'oeuvres will be served.
